Safety Stars: Workshop Safety Video Project

In the 3‑week mini-project Grade 7 students in Design Technology will combine communication skills, creativity, and digital tools to design and produce a bilingual safety video. The project introduces students to the importance of safety in the DT workshop while allowing them to practice personal expression through digital media.

Objectives

To produce an instructional workshop safety video that

educates new students and visitors on essential safety rules, proper

conduct, and the responsible use of tools and equipment within the

design lab environment.

Skills: Digital communication and creativity, teamwork, planning,

recording, editing, presenting, reflecting

Final Product: 3‑minute bilingual safety video (English narration with Chinese subtitles OR Chinese narration with English subtitles)

Sanding machine/paper (砂光机和砂纸, shā guāng jī hé shā zhǐ)
3D pen (3D打印笔, 3D dǎ yìn bǐ)

Grading Rubric:

Content Accuracy (40%): Correct safety rules, properly explained.

Clarity & Bilingual Use (20%): Easy to understand, includes Chinese translations.

Creativity & Editing (20%): Use of visuals, demonstrations, CapCut features.

Teamwork (20%): Equal participation, collaboration.
