
Happy birthday, SUIS! (CAD/CAM Unit: 3D printing)
Recommended duration: 14 weeks
Task:

Each of you designs a 3D word block with connectors in Tinkercad.
-
Each group outputs 2 blocks using a 3D printer.
(words should be associated with SUIS culture)
Prerequisite task:
1. 17 tutorials in Tinkercad program's learning center.
2. Printed 3D design of any existing product related to a birthday theme (can be found here)

Week 1-2
1. Pair-share: Discuss with a partner the role of culture and why brand identity is important to companies and corporations. What are the key elements of our school's culture and brand, including values, mission, logo, colors, and any other distinctive features?
2. Identify the task and show areas that need to be considered in a mind map
3. Provide a design brief. (Design Brief: Clearly explain what you are doing, the material to be used, identify your theme/topic, identify your target audience, tools to be used, etc) . Example.
Graded:
1 page (mindmap, design brief)
1 page (design specifications and drawing)
Modified: Submit a poster (things that come to your mind when you think about your school.)
Fill out the template.

Week 3
1. Brainstorm success criteria for your product.
2. Develop design specifications, which clearly states the success criteria for the design of a solution.
3. Present the chosen design (two words you selected with your partner) and justify its selection, develop an accurate drawing and outline the requirements for the creation of the chosen solution.
Graded: 1 page (design specifications and drawing)

Week 4-7
Examine tinkercad tutorials:
1. create a student account and join the class by following this link (necessary to observe your progress):

Week 8-12
Develop a product: Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution.
- print a sample (in a group of 5-6)
- print your final product
Examine safety precautions and best practices that should we follow when operating the 3D printer
Graded: your design in .stl file, in .gcode, final printed product

Week 13
Receive at least two peer feedback and two staff feedback.
Critically evaluate the success of the solution against the design specification - Self-reflection.
Explain how the solution could be improved.
Explain the impact of the solution on the client/target audience.
Graded: 1 page (peer/staff feedback, self-reflection)

Week 14
Remediation/Enrichment.
